Why Plasma Televisions Are The Best

By

Advantage of Plasma

There are many advantages of plasma televisions including fast refresh rate, high contrast ratio and amazing color recreation.

Fast Refresh Rate: Plasma televisions use gases to display the pictures as opposed to the liquid crystals that are in LCD and LED TVs. The gases can be manipulated and changed far quicker than liquid. This in turn enables the plasma to refresh faster and display a smoother picture. No need to worry about hertz. 600HZ is just a marketing gimmick that manufactures use to make their TV seem better than the competitions.

High Contrast: Plasma televisions produce light and color from the same source, the gases within. LCDs are made up of 2 separate panels; the color panel that is made up of the liquid crystals that display the picture and then light panel which is made up of CCFL lights that project through the color panel to displace the picture. LED TVs use a series of LED lights instead of CCFL. The reason plasma has a higher contrast ration is because there is now shine through like on the LCD. When an LCD is displaying "black", the lights behind the color panel are still on at the full brightness, which consequently shines through and turns the "black" into dark purple or grey.

Color Recreation: Better colors are a direct result of high contrast ration. The lack of shine through keeps the colors vivid and true. This also enables the televisions to be viewed from any angle and the picture will stay normal. On an LCD the shine through washes out the color and even more so when viewing the television from an angle.

Common Misconceptions: Many people are "turned off" by plasma because they are afraid of burn-in. Burn-in use to be a problem in the first few generations of plasma panels but no longer and issue. Any major brand name plasma includes a pixel orbiting option that constantly keeps the picture moving and to avoid burn in.
